Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Journeyman Painter who can not only perform high-quality painting work but also take a leadership role on job sites. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in surface preparation and finish application, and can oversee and guide a team to ensure timely, professional results. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to lead by example in both craftsmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, sanding, caulking, and patching.
- Apply paint, varnish, stain, enamel, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders to determine scope and materials.
- Erect scaffolding or set up ladders safely to access high areas.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment.
- Enforce and follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Lead and coordinate a team of painters to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to less experienced team members.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and crew to resolve issues and keep projects on track.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal painting apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of professional painting experience.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation, coating types, and application techniques.
- Ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and maintain project schedules.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy materials, work at heights, and perform manual labor.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with specialized coatings (e.g., epoxy, waterproofing).
- Knowledge of drywall repair and/or wallpaper installation.
